Eagles make a risky bet on Joe Milton's cannon arm amid Hurts' injury

The Philadelphia Eagles may have found an intriguing insurance policy at quarterback — and they found him on the practice squad of a division rival. Philadelphia signed quarterback Joe Milton after he spent the start of the 2026 season with the Dallas Cowboys, adding a big-armed, athletic option to its quarterback room as Jalen Hurts deals with an injury. The move gives the Eagles another potential answer under center while offering Milton an opportunity to revive his NFL career with a team chasing success in a highly competitive NFC East. Milton is far from a proven NFL starter, but his physical tools and flashes of regular-season production make him an intriguing addition. For the Eagles, the immediate priority is protecting themselves against uncertainty surrounding Hurts. For Milton, the challenge is turning raw ability into a dependable role in Philadelphia.
