The Cleveland Browns have received another boost to their 2027 NFL Draft position after the Los Angeles Rams suffered an 18-16 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals.
Cleveland owns the Rams’ first-round pick through the Myles Garrett trade, meaning Los Angeles’ struggles could hand the Browns a valuable selection even as they push for a playoff place.
The latest defeat leaves the Rams at 2-4 after back-to-back losses, while Cleveland moved to 4-2 with a 13-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Los Angeles Rams’ defeat to Arizona Cardinals improves Cleveland Browns’ 2027 NFL Draft position
According to Tankathon’s updated draft order, the Rams’ first-round pick currently sits at No. 10 overall.
Cleveland’s own selection is projected at No. 27, giving the Browns a potential top-10 pick alongside their late first-round choice.
Los Angeles appeared to have rescued its game against Arizona after taking a 16-15 lead with 47 seconds remaining. However, the Cardinals drove into field-goal range and Chad Ryland converted a 43-yard kick as time expired.
The Rams had entered the game as heavy favourites but struggled to find their rhythm offensively, finishing with just 286 total yards.
There is still plenty of time for Sean McVay’s side to turn its season around, with 11 games remaining. For now, though, each defeat makes the first-round pick acquired by Cleveland more valuable.
The Browns have also shown they can compete without Garrett, who remains sidelined following knee surgery. Their defence helped shut out Baltimore after conceding 10 points on the Ravens’ opening two possessions.
Carson Schwesinger forced a Derrick Henry fumble that Tyson Campbell recovered, setting up Cleveland’s tying touchdown. The Browns also recorded three sacks from three different players.
Cleveland’s own start has exceeded expectations, with four wins from six games putting the team in contention for the AFC North. However, offensive inconsistency remains a concern after the Browns managed only 46 yards in the first half against Baltimore.
Their next challenge comes against the Tennessee Titans, while the Rams will look to halt their losing streak and improve their position in the NFC West.
For Cleveland, Los Angeles’ results will remain worth watching. If the Rams cannot recover, the Browns could enter the 2027 draft with two valuable first-round selections.
