While Mikey Moore has shown glimpses of his potential since joining 1. FC Köln on loan from Tottenham in the summer, he is yet to fully find his feet and is still waiting for his first goal involvement.
Most recently, the highly-rated 19-year-old made only a late cameo off the bench in Köln’s 1-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt last week.
Köln still have high hopes for the teenager and are keen to help him develop into a player capable of earning an important role at Tottenham and in the Premier League in the future.
“For Mikey, the priority now must be to continue developing as a player here and perform in a way that allows him to play an important role at Tottenham next year,” sporting managing director Thomas Kessler told Bild.
Köln coach René Wagner held a one-on-one meeting with Moore this week as the club hopes to see him break his goalscoring duck against Schalke on Saturday.
“He’s eagerly waiting for that one moment when it all clicks and he finally finds the net,” Wagner said, making clear how highly he rates Moore.
“He can beat almost any opponent in the league in a one-on-one situation,” he added.
Köln and Germany legend Pierre Littbarski is also hoping Moore will finally score his first goal for the club this weekend.
“I hope Moore starts finding the net soon, too. He has good movement, a certain degree of pace and is willing to take risks. I hope he doesn’t get lost in the mediocrity. He’s had plenty of chances to score,” Littbarski told Bild.
