Former deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has been denied bail in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning.
Following a marathon bail hearing, Magistrate Hleziphi Mkhasibe said that Sibiya's release on bail was not in the interest of justice.
Sibiya faces multiple allegations, including rape, sexual grooming of a minor and the possession and distribution of sexually explicit images.
He is accused of grooming the 16-year-old daughter of an associate and raping an 18-year-old girl.
The former top cop has denied the allegations.
The case has been postponed to November 25, for further investigations.
Magistrate Mkhasibe found that the human trafficking charges against Sibiya had merit, although the trial court will ultimately have to determine the matter.
Sibiya had previously argued that the State lacked concrete evidence to support the human trafficking allegations against him.
