Brittany Mahomes Responds to Kylie Kelce’s Public Praise With a Two-Word Message (Getty Images)
Brittany Mahomes had a brief response after Kylie Kelce publicly praised her work in women's sports, bringing attention to a role that extends well beyond her connection to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. During an appearance on the *IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson* podcast, Kylie highlighted Brittany's efforts to promote women's soccer in Kansas City.
Brittany later shared the compliment on her Instagram Story with a short message: “Thank you!!! 🙏🏻🤍@kykelce.” The exchange was simple, but the recognition pointed to Brittany's growing influence in professional women's soccer.
Kylie Kelce praises Brittany Mahomes for her work in women's sports
Kylie, the wife of former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, used her podcast appearance to highlight Brittany's contribution to women's sports. Rather than focus on her status as an NFL player's wife, Kylie pointed to the work she has done to help women's soccer grow in Kansas City.“Brittany Mahomes is a great example,” Kylie said. “What she's done for women's sports and women's soccer in the Kansas City area is so impressive.”
The praise recognised a side of Brittany's career that can get lost amid the attention surrounding Patrick and the Chiefs. She has her own sporting background, having played college soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler before continuing her career professionally in Iceland.
Brittany later shared Kylie's comments on Instagram and responded with her message of thanks. There was no lengthy exchange or elaborate statement. Her reply acknowledged the compliment, while the public recognition gave her work in women's soccer a fresh moment in the spotlight.Kylie's comments also challenged a familiar label attached to women connected to professional athletes. Their public profiles often revolve around their partners, even when they have careers and business interests of their own.
Brittany's involvement in the Kansas City Current offers a clear example of why that distinction matters.
Brittany Mahomes helped build the Kansas City Current
Brittany is a founding co-owner of the Kansas City Current, the National Women's Soccer League club established in 2020 with Angie and Chris Long. Her involvement gives her a direct role in the development of women's professional soccer, rather than simply a place on the sidelines as a prominent football spouse. The club's growth has included CPKC Stadium, a venue built specifically for a professional women's soccer team. The facility represents a major investment in the sport and gives the Current a dedicated home in Kansas City. It also helps explain why Kylie singled out Brittany's work when discussing women who use their public standing to support women's athletics.
Patrick joined the club's ownership group in 2023, adding another high-profile name to its backers.
But Kylie's praise was directed at Brittany and the contribution she had already made to the project.Brittany's interests also extend into fitness. She launched Brittany Lynne Fitness in 2019, drawing on her athletic background to develop workout programs and merchandise.Kylie's compliment and Brittany's two-word response were a small social media moment, but the subject behind them was substantial. Brittany's work with the Current has helped place women's soccer more firmly in Kansas City's sporting picture, giving her an identity in sports that stands on its own.
