Arsenal secured three valuable points with Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, but let’s not pretend it was a great performance.
Noni Madueke’s late winner rescued a frustrating afternoon in which Arsenal managed just one shot on target.
So, who deserves the plaudits, and who needs to do better?
Arsenal Starting XI Ratings
David Raya – 7/10: Reliable when called upon and another clean sheet to his name.
Ben White – 5/10: Defensively steady, but offered little quality with his final delivery into the box today.
Ezri Konsa – 8/10: A physical battle with Liam Delap and a crucial stoppage-time intervention. One of Arsenal’s best performers. It feels like Konsa’s always been a Gunner.
Gabriel Magalhães – 8/10: Strong, determined and another commanding performance at the heart of the defence. Forest really made Gabi and Konsa work today.
Riccardo Calafiori – 5/10: An early mistake nearly proved costly. Plenty of attacking ambition, but not his best afternoon.
Declan Rice – 7/10: Plenty of effort, missed a good opportunity, but he did provide the pass for Madueke’s winner.
Bruno Guimarães – 5/10: Worked hard without really influencing proceedings. Maybe Guimaraes is better coming on as a Super Sub?
Martin Ødegaard – 6/10: Tried to create openings, but Forest’s organisation made life difficult.
Bukayo Saka – 5/10: Looked lively at times, particularly early on, but his deliveries rarely troubled Forest. He got turned over by Forest quite a few times and was swamped when he had the ball.
Eberechi Eze – 4/10: A disappointing opportunity to impress. Replaced at half-time after struggling to make an impact. I felt, like Saka on the right, Eze was far too easily and far too frequently dispossessed down the left.
Kai Havertz – 3/10: Missed two shots, including a promising first-half header, and struggled to gain any real momentum in the game or provide any real attacking threat.

Arsenal Substitutes Ratings
Noni Madueke – 9/10: Player of the Match! Came on at half-time, showed the willingness to attack and scored the winner. Yes, it took a deflection, but he made something happen!
Jurrien Timber – 6/10: Added energy and helped create a good opportunity for Rice.
Mikel Merino – 6/10: A steady contribution after coming on in the second half.
Viktor Gyökeres – 6/10: Worked hard and offered a more physical presence than Havertz, although chances remained scarce.
Ultimately, Arsenal’s defence deserves considerable credit, while Madueke provided the attacking spark that was otherwise missing.
And although Arteta praised Arsenal’s patience after the victory, there’s plenty of room for improvement before the Gunners welcome Bayern Munich to the Emirates on Wednesday.
