Mumbai Police have deferred the transfer of the three accused in the firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff to Mumbai from Kota in Rajasthan due to security concerns. The police team, which had initially set out at night, returned to the Railway Colony police station shortly afterwards.
The three accused are currently lodged at the Railway Colony police station, where heavy police deployment and commandos have been stationed outside the premises. The station has been turned into a high-security zone, with police likely to leave for Mumbai with the accused in the early hours of Tuesday.
The accused were apprehended at Kota railway station after the Mumbai Crime Branch traced their movements with the help of CCTV footage, technical analysis and field investigations. The investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly travelled through multiple locations and used different modes of transport in an attempt to evade arrest.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly abandoned a motorcycle near Andheri West in Mumbai, travelled to Borivali by local train and then took an app-based cab to Surat. From there, they boarded the Pune-Jaipur Express, which eventually led them to Kota, where Rajasthan Police arrested them following an alert from the Mumbai Crime Branch.
The accused were allegedly planning to travel to Nepal via Delhi, with a bus journey from Jaipur forming part of their planned escape route.
The three accused are from Haryana and Bihar. Police have clarified that none of them is a minor. One is 18 years old, while the other two are 22. Two of the accused reportedly belong to the same place and knew each other.
The alleged shooters have been identified as Phool Singh and Rehan. According to details emerging from the investigation, one of the weapons reportedly malfunctioned during the firing. Rehan was allegedly seen wearing a cap in footage linked to the incident.
The Crime Branch has said that two weapons were used in the attack and multiple rounds were fired at the actor's vehicle. An attempt-to-murder case and offences under the Arms Act have been invoked against the accused. Investigators are probing their individual roles and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
