Actor Zul Ariffin has taken being overlooked for nominations at the 35th Malaysia Film Festival in his stride.
He believes that while accolades are always welcome for any performer, chasing trophies has never been for him.
Speaking at a film premiere in Kuala Lumpur recently, Zul said his main focus is on delivering strong performances and taking on quality projects.
He said that while being nominated for an award is a blessing, missing out does not bother him at all.
With this grounded mindset, the seasoned actor is thankful for the roles he is offered and the support from fans, especially with so many fresh faces entering the scene.
Looking ahead, he has his sights on several projects next year.
Zul cautioned that putting too much hope in awards can easily lead to disappointment, as major ceremonies only happen once a year.
He prefers to focus on quietly refining his craft.
He also paid tribute to the unsung heroes behind the camera, highlighting that production crews work far harder than the cast and deserve praise.
Zul won awards at the festival's 26th and 31st editions. His lack of nominations this time has raised eyebrows among fans, particularly as four films he was in had scored nominations.
