Earlier this month, CBS officially announced its decision to part ways with broadcast analyst Tony Romo, who was arrested for OWI in Wisconsin this past summer.
Romo's broadcast partner, legendary play-by-play man Jim Nantz, addressed the situation for the first time during a recent interview with sports media insider Jimmy Traina.
"My first thought, of course, was to just see how Tony was doing as a friend. Just to make sure he's doing alright," Nantz said. "I look forward to Tony coming through this, and he will.
“I think unquestionably he will work again,” Nantz continued, via Awful Announcing. “I don’t know if it’s calling games or being in studio, but he’s got a lot of talent. He’s got a lot of people who like him, and he’s a star. He’s got a personality that’s different, and that’s a good thing.

"And I don’t know where Tony’s head is on that right now, so I’m not going to speculate, but I think you’re asking me ‘Will he ever work again in the business?’ I think there will be plenty of opportunity for that, because he’s got game.”
J.J. Watt took over Romo's spot as Nantz's partner in the broadcast booth, and will continue to do so through the remainder of the 2026 NFL season.
