Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Manpower Ministry targeted a 70 percent employment rate for graduates of the National Vocational Training program.
Manpower Minister Yassierli said in a statement here on Monday the target is in line with government efforts to transform the Vocational and Productivity Training Centers (BPVP), so that training better matches business and industry needs.
"This effort is directed at improving graduates' chances of entering the workforce, with a target of a 70 percent employment rate for national vocational training graduates," he said.
Yassierli noted BPVP need to be managed as high-standard training centers with a strong learning culture and an integrated alumni network.

As a result, vocational training is expected to give real benefits to the public and be more responsive to labor market needs.
"We must pursue how these training centers can provide the widest possible benefit to the public. Through the transformation of national vocational training, we are expanding access and improving quality to be able to meet current employment challenges," he stated.
To monitor training outcomes, the ministry will conduct a tracer study no later than two months after training ends. The mechanism is used to trace alumni's records in the job market as part of evaluating training results.
In addition, the ministry is pushing a training model that involves industry, regional governments, industrial estates, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

Through a demand-driven approach, participants receive training at centers tailored to industry needs, improving their post-training employment prospects.
Besides preparing workers for industry needs, BPVP are directed to expand services through training for people with disabilities, labor productivity clinics for mid-sized industries, and a talent and innovation hub as an innovation center.
"So, not only vocational training, but every center will later have a talent innovation hub, complete with job placement officers for people with disabilities and a productivity clinic," Yassierli noted.
