THREE live monkeys were found concealed in a passenger’s baggage during routine X-ray screening at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
According to a social media post by KLIA’s aviation security team (AVSEC), Screener Corporal Shahrul flagged the suspicious baggage, prompting a further inspection that uncovered the animals.

The passenger was subsequently offloaded from the flight, while the monkeys were handed over to the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) and the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN) for further investigation.

Under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010, offences involving protected wildlife can carry fines and imprisonment, depending on the species involved and the nature of the offence.
