The Buffalo Bills survived a wild overtime battle against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, and a crucial special teams play helped decide the outcome. Buffalo blocked Harrison Mevis’ potential game-winning field goal before Tyler Bass delivered the decisive kick in a 37-34 victory.
The Rams had a chance to end the game after James Cook fumbled in overtime, which ultimately gave Los Angeles possession and an opportunity to win. Matthew Stafford moved the offense into field-goal range, putting Mevis in position to finish the game.

However, Buffalo’s special teams broke through and blocked the attempt, keeping the Bills alive.
Josh Allen then took advantage of the reprieve. The quarterback helped move Buffalo into scoring range, including a key scramble that brought the Bills closer to the winning field goal. Bass converted the attempt to secure the road victory.
The finish capped a dramatic contest that featured a major scoring surge after halftime. The teams combined for 20 points in the first half before trading touchdowns throughout the second half. However, neither side managed to create enough separation to avoid overtime.
Stafford delivered a strong performance for Los Angeles. He threw for more than 380 yards, helping the Rams erase a late deficit. Kyren Williams scored a rushing touchdown with four seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 34-34.
Allen, meanwhile, made a major impact as a runner despite struggling to find consistency through the air. He finished with 121 rushing yards, using several important runs to keep Buffalo’s scoring drives alive. The Bills also surpassed 200 rushing yards as a team.
