The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested a company manager allegedly involved in the manufacturing of herbal products with fake registration number in Agege, Lagos State.
NAFDAC, in a statement on X, on Wednesday, said its officials busted the facility, following following a media report on October 10, 2026 about a herbal product with fake NAFDAC registration numbers.
A mugshot attached to the post showed that the male suspect, 39-year-old Abdullazeez Saidu, from Kano State, was arrested on October 16, 2026, for “illegal production of STD herbal product.”
The statement read, “NAFDAC has uncovered an illegal herbal product manufacturing facility in Agege, Lagos State, following a report published by The Guardian on 10 October 2026 concerning herbal products bearing falsified NAFDAC registration numbers.
“A NAFDAC investigative team conducted surveillance and subsequently discovered three variants of Asheitu Adams Bitters bearing NAFDAC Registration Number A7-1827L.
“Verification through NAFDAC’s NAPAMS portal revealed that the registration number belongs to Greentol Cough Syrup, confirming its fraudulent use on the herbal products.
“The company’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer was absent during the operation, while the company manager was arrested for further interrogation.”
The agency urged members of the public to keep providing credible information on suspected illegal manufacturing activities to its Call Centre on 0800-1-623322 or 0700-1-623322, or email reforms@nafdac.gov.ng.
