All hail the Caesar wrap – delicious, relatively nutritious and there’s a secret hack that lets you get an extra dose of crunch in your lunch…
Found at Parker’s Dubai Mall, The Caesar by DFB (Dubai Food Babes) is a concept that seems very much inspired by London’s Czer. Which is on-brand for Roman nomenclature because that particular empire borrowed their entire pantheon, and many of their founding myths, from their forebears… the Greeks.
The concept at Czer (and indeed The Caesar) is simple, slight variations on tortilla-wrapped caesar salads – botanically-founded, luxuriously-sauced, big’ol burritos filled to an almost ludicrously, physics-defying extent. The added little twist was that you can add your own (or purchased on site) packet of crisps into the mix, creating a new, social media primed, genre of bespoke crouton crafting. And it was instant artisanal alchemy. People were (and still are) queueing down the streets of Soho to get a taste.
It was only ever going to be a matter of time before it turned up in Dubai.
Friends, mall roamers, kabayans
So what’s all the fuss about and what can we expect from Dubai Mall’s The Caesar by DFB? The secret really does appear to be in the sauce. And the chips of choice. That’s what most of the reviews have been saying at least.
In concept, it’s delightfully simple. No convoluted menu, no dazzling detours or distractions, just straight up saucy chicken salad in a wrap.
There are three base options: The Original – lettuce, croutons and the classic Caesar sauce. The Jalapeño, which unsurprisingly features a mildy spicy element to its dressing (and is often paired with spicy Cheetos). And The Truffle, because of course there’s a truffle one.
Beware the ides of lunch
As mentioned above, you get to put the final twist into Caesar’s back. Bring your own crisps (or chips depending on your potato snack origin of birth) or buy them at the restaurant for mixing into the melange, fancy some salt and v with your truffle sando? You do you boo. Some Monster Munch for extra crunch? It’s a date, mate. Chips Oman up flush against the jalapeño? It’d be rude not to. Pringles if you’re single, or Doritos if you absolutely must double down on the tortilla. Real ones know it’s all about the Chipsticks.
Pricing starts at around Dhs64 for the wrap (without chips), and it kicks off at midday – but get down there early, because they’ve been selling out daily.
