Seungri, a former member of the group BIGBANG, has been booked on charges of special assault but denies the allegations, stating, “I never swung or struck anyone with a soju bottle.”
On October 23rd, Seungri’s legal representative, Attorney Yoon, released a statement saying, “On August 8th, while Seungri was dining at a restaurant in Seoul with two acquaintances, an unfamiliar man (hereafter, the complainant) requested to join their table. Despite repeated refusals, he sat down without permission.”
Seungri poured a drink for the man and even gave him his contact information, but when asked again to leave, the complainant did not comply, leading to a verbal altercation. Attorney Yoon claimed, “Tensions rose as the complainant continued to refuse to leave after repeated requests, and Seungri did pick up a soju bottle.”
He stressed, “However, this was an emotional reaction to the complainant’s provocation, and there was no physical altercation.”
Seungri’s side explained that despite the argument, both parties parted on good terms and even exchanged text messages afterward. However, a few days later, the complainant reversed their stance and filed a criminal complaint.
Attorney Yoon stated, “After the complaint was filed, the complainant’s side contacted us seeking a settlement, but Seungri will cooperate fully with the investigation and clarify the facts through the authorities.”
According to police, the complainant filed a report at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, alleging assault, threats, and confinement by Seungri and his party at a restaurant in Seoul on August 8th. The police plan to summon Seungri soon to begin their investigation.
