MOCHA – Saudi-led coalition aircraft resumed airstrikes on multiple locations across the strategic coastal city of Mocha on Yemen’s Red Sea coast, according to local sources on Saturday.
Residents reported hearing a series of explosions as warplanes targeted several areas in and around the city, which lies in Yemen’s Taiz governorate near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world’s most important maritime corridors.
The strikes were reportedly concentrated on sites believed to be linked to Houthi forces, although no official statement detailing the targets was immediately released.
The renewed aerial bombardment comes amid escalating military tensions in western Yemen and continued confrontations between Houthi fighters and forces aligned with the internationally recognized Yemeni government. Witnesses said the airstrikes triggered heightened security measures and movement restrictions in parts of the coastal city.
