UNITED NATIONS, October 14. /TASS/. Since May 2025, Russia has handed over a total of 3,976 prisoners of war to Kiev, while Kiev repatriated 3,886 captured Russian servicemen, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik said.
"At the Russian president’s initiative, the Istanbul format of negotiations was restored in May 2025, after a three-year-long pause," he told an unofficial Arria-formula meeting of the UN Security Council. "This paved the way to the resumption of detainee swaps after a prolonged disruption."
"Since May 2025, Russia has handed over to Ukraine at least 3,976 servicemen and around 208 non-combatants, while Ukraine returned a minimum of 3,886 servicemen and also 193 civilians to the Russian side," the Russian diplomat added.
