Members of the Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been urged to double their propagation of government policies and programs, grassroots mobilization efforts, and expand membership drives to secure the party’s victory and maintain its parliamentary majority in the 2028 general elections.
Addressing student leaders and party activists, Masahudu emphasized that securing power in 2028 is vital to sustaining the socioeconomic progress and governance reforms under President John Mahama’s Resetting Ghana agenda.
“We must win the next general elections to continuously put Ghana in the right direction, and it starts with your effective participation and collaboration as young persons in our party. You will play a very strategic role in retaining power come 2028,” Masahudu urged.
He entreated youth leaders, digital advocacy teams, and student groups not to relent in communicating the administration’s policy achievements to all citizens, including members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The charge comes on the heels of the NDC’s decisive victory in the 2024 general elections, where John Dramani Mahama secured the presidency with 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55 percent, defeating the NPP’s Mahamudu Bawumia, who garnered 4,975,183 votes, recording 44.48 percent.
In Parliament, the party established a dominant majority in Ghana’s 9th Parliament, capturing over 180 seats compared to the NPP’s over 80 seats.
According to Masahudu, the party remains highly attractive to voters, making an even wider victory margin achievable in 2028 through strategic operations across auxiliary youth groups including TEIN, elections directorates, research and innovation units, and digital communications teams.
He encouraged youth organizers to campaign actively on the key milestones achieved under President Mahama’s administration, highlighting that the current government has passed crucial tax reform measures that removed targeted levies, including the Electronic Transfer Levy, the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy, emissions charges, and the 10 percent tax on betting and lottery winnings.
The Youth Organizer further noted the rollout of the One Million Coders digital skills training program and the Adwumawura Programme designed to supply funding and mentorship to youth startups, as Basic and senior high schools have also received direct distributions under a free sanitary pad program.
Additional landmark achievements, he stated, include the enactment of free tuition and academic fees for all first-year students entering public tertiary institutions, along with the institutionalization of full academic and residential scholarships for Persons with Disabilities in public universities.
Mr. Masahudu indicated that in healthcare and agriculture, the Mahama Cares framework has expanded primary healthcare access at polyclinics and CHPS compounds under National Health Insurance Scheme coverage.
The Youth Organizer said the district-level Farmers’ Service Centers have been established to provide smallholder farmers with pre-financed inputs, machinery leasing, and technical support.
