The Baltimore Ravens have no shortage of offensive weapons, but one former first-round pick could become a surprising name to watch ahead of the NFL trade deadline. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, wide receiver Rashod Bateman is a player worth monitoring as the Ravens weigh their options with the deadline approaching.
Fowler identified Bateman as a potential trade candidate, pointing to Zay Flowers’ prominent role in Baltimore’s passing game and Bateman’s fluctuating production. The Ravens have other ways to move the football, including their dynamic rushing attack, which can leave Bateman fighting for consistent opportunities in the passing game.
Bateman’s contract could also make a trade possible. He is due $6.5 million in 2026 and $8.25 million in 2027, and Fowler noted that other teams have expressed interest in the past. That combination could make the former first-round pick an appealing option for a team searching for help at wide receiver.

However, Baltimore’s strong start complicates the possibility of a deal. The Ravens are 4-1 and firmly in the playoff picture, giving them little incentive to weaken their roster unless a trade makes sense for the bigger picture. Moving Bateman would also leave the team with one fewer experienced option at a position where depth can become crucial over the course of a season.
Bateman has shown he can contribute when given opportunities, so a change of scenery could benefit both the receiver and a potential trade partner. Still, Baltimore’s postseason ambitions should take priority over moving a player just because his production can be inconsistent.
For now, Bateman is a name to watch rather than a player the Ravens are confirmed to be shopping. Unless Baltimore receives an offer it cannot ignore, keeping its receiving depth intact while pursuing a playoff run may be the more likely outcome.
