The three lawmakers sympathetic to Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers State Governor, on Tuesday resumed sitting at the state House of Assembly after almost two years in suspension, as the legislature began moves to re-establish the Government Sea School, Isaka, as a maritime and vocational training institution.
The Assembly on Monday rescinded its October 15, 2025 decision that declared the seats of three pro-Fubara lawmakers vacant, clearing the way for their return to the chamber.
Victor Oko-Jumbo (Bonny), Sokari Goodboy Sokari (Ahoada West) and Orubienimigha Timothy (Opobo/Nkoro) were suspended on October 30, 2023, during the political crisis that engulfed the state, pitting Fubara’s supporters against Nyesom Wike’s loyalists.
The Assembly’s decision on Monday followed a letter dated October 16, 2026, from the three lawmakers asking to be recalled. The letters were read during plenary on Monday.

Oko-Jumbo, Sokari and Orubienimigha Timothy were part of proceedings on Tuesday as the Assembly gave first reading to a bill for a law to re-establish the Government Sea School, Isaka, as a maritime and vocational training institution in Okrika Local Government Area.
The bill also seeks to provide for the school’s governance, funding and administration, and for other connected purposes.
Linda Somiari-Stewart (Okrika Constituency), while presenting the bill, said it seeks to repeal the Rivers State Sports Institute Law and enact a law to re-establish the Government Sea School, Isaka, with a view to updating its operational mandate to meet contemporary maritime standards and blue economy demands.
The bill was co-sponsored by other members: Arnold Davids, Tonye Adoki, Enemi George, Igwe Aforji, Azeru Opara and Nkemjika Ezekwe.
Martin Chike Amaewhule, Speaker of the State Assembly, had earlier welcomed members to the day’s plenary, including the three pro-Fubara lawmakers.
