A Cape Town content creator has had South Africans smiling from ear to ear after a spontaneous, lighthearted video at a Shell filling station went viral on Instagram.
Terrence Weng, a Stellenbosch University BCom student and social media influencer, filmed the selfie-style clip late at night while sitting behind the wheel of a Toyota Quantum minibus taxi parked at the garage forecourt. With the energy of someone who had just been handed the keys to a new life, Weng enthusiastically announced to his phone's camera:
"Yeza, Yeza. I'm a taxi driver, Yeza."
What made the moment truly special was the petrol attendant in the background, who quickly caught on to the fun. He jumped into the passenger seat and, pointing to the route board on the taxi's dashboard, cheerfully declared:
"Okay. Now we're going to Dunoon now, man." Weng's laughter at the attendant's response captured exactly the kind of everyday joy that tends to stop South Africans mid-scroll.
The clip, shared on 23 October 2026, spread rapidly across platforms, with viewers charmed by the easygoing camaraderie between the two.

The comments section on the Instagram page quickly filled with warmth.
@answers2uni wrote,
"When the rainbow nation works, it's really quite beautiful."
@_nadineph_ added,
"The Rainbow Nation for a reason! 🇿🇦💙💜💚."
@quivitaelectea, went a step further:
"😂😂😂 There actually is a Chinese taxi driver in Belleville"
Even Weng's own brother got involved, with @marcus.weng asking the very reasonable question:
"Bro, I thought you were studying?"
Not everyone was confident about the destination, though.
@timothyrandall_ quipped,
"Bro's not making it out of Dunoon😭," which seemed to sum up the collective mood perfectly.
Beyond his social media presence, Weng is also a co-founder of Enhance Media, a digital marketing agency, and has competed as a HYROX open athlete. Despite his entrepreneurial ventures, it appears a career in public transport remains firmly on the table, at least according to his followers.
