A new report suggests that GTA 6 will release on PC in "Q1 2027". That, at least, is what GamesBeat is saying, citing "sources familiar with the matter."
This means that, if the publication's information is correct, we'll see the PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6 land in the first three months of the year. "GamesBeat has confirmed that Rockstar plans to release the PC version of GTA 6 in the first quarter of 2027, according to four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans, all of whom requested anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships," says the report. "A Rockstar Games representative did not respond to a request for comment prior to the publication of this article."
That means GTA 6 would enjoy anywhere between two-to-five months' worth of console exclusivity: it's launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19th November. We had a tease of the official PC version of the game from Strauss Zelnick earlier this year; the Take-Two boss noted that whilst the company tends not to "go across all platforms simultaneously", he was aware of the hunger for the game on non-console platforms.
This gap marks quite a small margin between one release and the other, however: GTA 5 released in September 2013 while the PC version (after initially aiming for simultaneous release) was delayed until April 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on 26th October, 2018 for consoles, but then came to PC over a year later (5th November, 2019). Rockstar has not, of course, confirmed this PC release date is real, so take all this with a pinch of salt for now.
There is potential that we could see a PC version of the game sooner: (in)famous leaker, CyberLeek, threatened to release a full, playable build of the game over the weekend. Whilst this could end up being an empty threat, it's clear the leaker has a genuine build of the game - the prolific leaks have even prompted Rockstar to issue a formal statement, and the company has reportedly tried to subpoena Discord as it tries to identify the person behind the leaks.

Whether this release date turns out to be true or not, it would make sense for Rockstar to get the PC version of the game in PC players' hands sooner rather than later - a large portion of the profit GTA 5 has hoovered up comes from GTA Online, and Rockstar is going to want to have a solid sales foundation for when it decides to deploy GTA 6 Online. Per Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, it seems the new version of GTA Online is lined up for a 2027 release date: "We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and also helping them think about how they can engage our creators. You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer," he said in an interview earlier this year.
Amid the build-up to GTA 6's release, Rockstar Games and the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) are currently engaged in the final tribunal hearing relating to the sudden firing of 31 Rockstar North employees a year ago, allegedly as part of a union-busting initiative by Rockstar.
