By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 22 year old self employed woman of Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk District, says her common law husband choked her and held a machete to her neck on Sunday afternoon.
The woman told police she left home around 2:30pm on October 11 to deliver orders to customers. When she returned about 3:00pm, her six year old daughter was crying and said her father had been shouting at her and threatening to kill her brothers.
The woman said her partner appeared highly intoxicated. He allegedly pulled the child by her hair and tried to beat her, but the mother stepped in and pulled her daughter away.
He then allegedly slapped the woman, grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the ground and began choking her while threatening to kill her.
She said she managed to push him off, but he then grabbed a machete and placed it on her neck.
A man has been detained pending charges for aggravated assault and threat of death.
