The decision follows a review of pricing mechanisms, existing tariffs and service capabilities in the country's aviation market, conducted in accordance with instructions from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Competition Committee reported that the analysis identified opportunities to optimize operational costs associated with domestic flights.
Based on the findings, proposals and recommendations were developed to reduce ticket prices and improve the affordability of domestic air travel. As part of the initiative, the Competition Committee worked with Uzbekistan Airways to review existing domestic flight tariffs.
The proposed measures received support from higher authorities, allowing the revised tariffs to be introduced from October 16. According to the committee, the changes are expected to result in an average reduction of up to 20% in domestic airfare prices. The tariff revisions follow the assessment of operational expenses, pricing structures and service capabilities within the aviation sector.
Lower ticket prices are also expected to provide additional opportunities for citizens traveling for business or personal purposes, Competition Committee believes. The committee stated that the tariff adjustments were developed following its analysis of the aviation market and cooperation with Uzbekistan Airways.
Previously, the Competition Committee submitted a proposal to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan to review the settlement mechanism for credit payments in the interests of consumers.
