Monza coach Ivan Juric has praised Super Eagles midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro following his impressive display in their 4-0 victory over Cagliari, saying the Nigerian is improving and has earned his place in the team, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Akinsanmiro started Monday’s Serie A encounter at the U-Power Stadium, partnering Foe Ondoa in midfield as Monza secured a convincing victory, their second league win of the campaign.
Speaking after the match, Juric expressed satisfaction with the Nigerian’s performance and development, while also praising Ondoa for his intelligence and progress.
“Akinsanmiro played very well today and is improving. I didn’t think Foe Ondoa could already play at this level. He’s incredibly intelligent; he’s earned his place. Great game today,” the Croatian tactician said, as quoted by SOS Fanta.
The victory saw Monza recover from a difficult first half to produce a dominant performance after the break. Eddy Kouadio opened the scoring in the 39th minute before Gustavo Varela doubled their advantage two minutes into the second half.
Jay Robinson extended the lead in the 66th minute, while Varela completed his brace in the 79th minute to seal the emphatic win.
Akinsanmiro, who joined Monza on loan from Inter Milan, will hope to build on the performance as he continues to establish himself in Italian football.
The 21-year-old previously spent last season on loan at Pisa, making 24 league appearances and providing one assist.
His latest outing offers further encouragement as he seeks to maintain his place in Juric’s starting lineup and continue his development in Serie A.
