Hyosung Chemical (298000.KS) is pushing into global markets with POKETONE, a high-performance plastic used in electric vehicles, humanoid robots and other emerging industries.
The company said on the 12th that it will showcase POKETONE at Fakuma 2026, an international trade fair for plastics processing held in Friedrichshafen, Germany, from the 12th to the 16th.
POKETONE is a high-performance plastic that resists impact, abrasion and chemicals, and absorbs little moisture, allowing it to hold its shape and dimensions. Its strength, wear resistance and flame retardancy can be enhanced for specific uses, making it one of the high-value specialty materials. It has recently been adopted in robotics, including service robots. The material is considered well suited for joint gears in humanoid robots, which must withstand repeated motion and friction.
At the fair, Hyosung Chemical will present automotive connectors, gears, drive components and medical parts made with POKETONE, focusing on automobiles, robotics and medical applications. On the 14th, the company plans to hold a technical seminar under the theme of "Globally Proven Materials, a Future Opened by Technology" to discuss ways to broaden the material's range of uses.
Europe has a well-developed manufacturing base in automobiles and industrial equipment, which drives strong demand for high-performance materials. Hyosung Chemical plans to use that base to expand POKETONE's use in next-generation industries such as electric vehicles and robotics, and to build its business in Europe and other global markets.
"POKETONE is broadening its potential across a range of industries, including electric vehicles, robotics and medical devices," said Lee Chun-seok, chief executive of Hyosung Chemical. "As industries demand both sustainability and high performance, we will expand POKETONE's applications through partnerships and customized technical support."
