Carrie Ann Inaba and Jenna Johnson had a slightly tense moment during judging this week on Dancing With the Stars, when Carrie Ann called out Jenna for (1) not sticking to the samba brief, and (2) incorporating a lift into her routine with Harry Shum Jr.
“If that was a halftime show, amazing!” Carrie Ann said. “I loved every minute of it. But it’s a Samba, don’t clap yet. It’s a Samba. You need to put more content in your dances. Especially because you have so much – you’re so good. I want you to challenge yourself more in the vein of what we’re looking for for you. And there was a lift.”
When Jenna seemed surprised by the lift comment, Carrie Ann added, “A lift is—I just need to say this. A lift is any movement during which one or both dancers has both feet off the floor at the same time with the assistance or support from their partner. Yeah, lift.”
So, what happened backstage? Apparently, Jenna was extremely upset. A source tells The Sun, “Jenna did break down backstage. Like as soon as she finally took a moment to herself, it was like the floodgates of emotion burst open and she was crying. She was comforted by her husband Val – who was pissed by the way. Jenna was sad and upset by Carrie Ann’s feedback, but Val was furious that she talked to his wife like that. He’s not happy with the whole situation, and Jenna is really bummed about it too.”
The insider added, “She feels terrible she feels like she let Harry down. But she’s more determined than ever to make up for it next week with a dance she think will blow the judges’ minds and have fans emotional.”
Can’t wait!
