The Philadelphia Eagles were dealt a tough blow today regarding their quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Amid their struggles to start the year, it was announced that the former Super Bowl champion will miss the rest of the 2026 season. After being diagnosed with deep-vein thrombosis, Hurts needs to sit out for the next few months as he undergoes treatment.
Hurts has a lot of critics, including former NFL fullback Michael Robinson. Before Hurts’ diagnosis was revealed, the former 49ers and Seahawks halfback insinuated that the Eagles quarterback was dodging his responsibilities by faking an injury. Eagles fans were obviously irate at this sentiment, and that only intensified after the reports about the severity of Hurts’ blood clots.
“I’m thinking that way, if I’m Jalen Hurts, or anybody in Jalen Hurts’ camp, I’m saying, ‘Well if everybody’s hurt, I’m hurt, too,’” Robinson said. “To me, it looked like Jalen is kind of getting himself out of the fray so that this lost season. He’s pulling himself out so that this doesn’t look like it’s on me.”

Robinson posted an official apology on his X to Hurts, his family, and the Eagles.
“I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, the Philadelphia Eagles organization and fan base for my comments last Thursday,” Robinson posted. “They were unfounded, and I never should’ve speculated on a health issue of a player nor his commitment to his team.”
Hurts missed the Eagles’ Week 6 game after doctors discovered a blood clot in the star. Fans were optimistic at first that the blood clot would resolve itself within the season and their quarterback wouldn’t miss a lot of time. However, the doctors discovered more serious clots that required treatment. Patients who undergo treatment for DVT are disallowed from playing contact sports due to how quickly they may bleed.
The Eagles turned to Tanner McKee to be their starter in Week 6, and he’ll likely be the starter this season moving forward. Philly lost to the Carolina Panthers 25-14 in Week 6.
