Gennaro Gattuso says he values honesty from his Lazio players, even if they’ve had a night out, but won’t allow anyone to ruin a training session.
With quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb, the Lazio coach was speaking at his press conference ahead of Saturday’s home game with Parma, as his side look to stay joint top of Serie A with Inter.
Gattuso has shown he won’t compromise on discipline since taking over in the summer.
“I prefer intellectual honesty. If someone tells me they had one drink too many or had a night out, fine, but I won’t allow anyone to ruin a training session,” he said. “My office door is always open.”
Gattuso on when Gudmundsson, Rovella and Marusić will return
Gattuso also gave an update on his injured players. He said he would rather wait than risk a relapse.
“For Albert, we hope to see him running without pain in 10 days, and hopefully he’ll be available before Napoli,” he said. “Rovella and Marusić should do partial sessions with us in four or five days if there are no problems, and then they’ll be available.”
Both have been out for several weeks, and Lazio’s medical staff have confirmed they will also miss the trip to Sassuolo next week.
Lazio go into the weekend on the back of a 3-0 win at Juventus, but Gattuso does not want any complacency against Alberto Gilardino’s side.
“If we drop off, Parma will give us a hiding to remember,” he warned.
