The Miami Heat will start the 2026-27 NBA season with higher hopes than they've had in a very long time.
The Heat, who have done a lot of positive things over the past few decades, are in a great spot to win at a high level this season with Giannis Antetokounmpo now on the roster.
Miami hopes Bam Adebayo and Antetokounmpo will be a great duo, though questions remain about how things will look, especially offensively.
Defensively, if Antetokounmpo plays at the level everyone expects, giving 100% effort, Miami should have one of the better defensive frontcourts in the NBA.
As for learning each other offensively, it still sounds like that's what the two Heat stars are working on. However, Antetokounmpo recently suggested they feel good about where they are, and that it will only improve the more they play.
“I love playing with Bam. I just love interacting with him. He has the same personality as my older brother. They were born on the same day. His personality is familiar to me. I love being around him. I love playing with him. I think the more we get to know one another, the better it’s going to be,” Antetokounmpo said, H/T Heavy.
The Heat gave up a ton to land Antetokounmpo this offseason, so if that move doesn't work out, it would be a major disappointment.
He'll always be a star-level player, barring something drastic changing over the next couple of months. Outside of a potential injury, there's no reason why he won't be one of the best five players in basketball. Adebayo is also a very good player in his own right, so there's very much to be excited about in Miami.
