President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Ghana Police Service for what he describes as improvements in public safety, including safer roads and a reduction in unresolved murder cases.
He praised the police administration for its work and urged officers to sustain their efforts in protecting lives and property.
Speaking about the service’s performance, President Mahama said the country was safer than it had been previously, citing improvements in road safety and the reduction in unresolved murders.
"Our country is safer today than it was before. The roads are safer. We also have a reduction in unresolved murders. I want to commend the CID for the good job they are doing.
“This police administration is doing a yeoman’s job and as Commander-in-Chief and President of the Republic, I want to express the gratitude of our nation to all of you and urge you to keep up the good work,” he said.
The President specifically commended the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for its work in addressing murder cases.
“I want to commend the CID for the good job they are doing,” he added.
President Mahama also linked Ghana’s security situation to the country’s appeal as a destination for visitors, saying people across the region viewed Ghana as one of the safest countries in West Africa.
He assured the police that the government would continue to provide the logistical support needed to carry out their duties.
"It is no wonder everybody wants to visit Ghana, because people say it is the safest country in the whole of West Africa.
“I can assure you that we will continue to provide you with the logistics that you need to continue to do your job,” he said.
