Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had received no response from Saudi Arabia or Yemen’s Houthi movement to its initiative to mediate between the two sides. In a televised interview, Araghchi said the initiative aimed to establish common ground for dialogue, but neither side had responded. He said the initiative involved contacts with both Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, the Houthis’ official name, in an effort to ease regional tensions. Araghchi proposed the mediation initiative in mid-October as military operations in Yemen escalated and Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia intensified.
