Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said the government is working sincerely to maintain religious harmony.
He made the remarks during an exchange of greetings and views with followers of the Sanatan faith at Sachar Bazar in Kachua upazila of the district yesterday night on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja.
"No one's heart will bleed in this country for practising their religion. Everyone will be able to practise their religion freely," the minister said.
"In Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's Bangladesh, everyone will live together in amity and harmony. No obstacle will be allowed to the exercise of anyone's religious rights," he added.
The minister said more funds had been allocated this year for Durga Puja celebrations in Kachua than ever before.
"As in the past, all kinds of cooperation will also be extended for the observance of religious festivals in the future," he added.
