Metallic silver and gold shoes have become a red carpet must-have for celebrities thanks to their versatility. The shoes’ ability to match with just about any look has evolved them into a timeless red carpet option, and they have remained a favorite at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, where they have been paired with custom designer dresses.
Penélope Cruz attended the “Bunker” gala during this year’s festival at The Royal Festival Hall on Oct. 10 in London. She stepped out in a custom, pale yellow floral Chantilly lace gown by Chanel. While the dress was a soft pastel shade, her shoes made the look pop.
She paired the gown with the Jimmy Choo Moza platforms in metallic gold. The Moza sandal features slender straps and an adjustable ankle fastening. It is set on a 120mm stiletto heel balanced by a front platform, creating a sculpted, elongated silhouette. They retail for $1,050.
Lily James also stepped out in a custom dress with metallic shoes. The actress attended “The Liberation” premiere during the film festival, which was held at BFI Southbank on Oct. 10, wearing a custom Prada gown. The design was an off-the-shoulder white pressed-velvet sheath gown with dramatic draped scarf sleeves and cascading trains.
The dress had a high slit in the back, which revealed that she was wearing the Jimmy Choo Alva sandals in metallic silver. The shoes are made with a streamlined square-toe silhouette and feature slim buckled ankle straps and rest atop 120mm stiletto heels.
Monica Barbaro followed suit at the “Artificial” premiere, which was held at Royal Festival Hall on Oct. 11. She wore a custom shimmering ice-blue sequined midi dress with a ruffled hem designed by Christian Dior. The actress and her styling team let the dress do the talking and paired it with the minimalist Paris Texas Lidia Mules in metallic silver.
The shoes are made from silver mirrored calfskin mules with the pin-thin galvanized Lidia heel, measuring 105mm, and a leather sole with a tone-on-tone finish. They retail for $845. The 70th BFI London Film Festival kicked off on Oct. 7 and runs until Oct. 18. Look below to see more celebrity shoe trends at the festival.
