Mining is a high-risk sector, and the attitude towards it must be equivalent. The head of the Nature Protection and Subsoil Inspectorate of Armenia, Hovhannes Martirosyan, on Saturday stated this during the Mining Armenia Forum 2026 in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia.
Martirosyan admitted that there is a serious problem in Armenia with the accuracy of baseline data and recording of consequences.
According to him, under the current regulations, the aforesaid inspectorate currently records only consequences, whereas risky situations are found only when visiting economic entities.
“To solve this problem, we have initiated the creation of a digital monitoring system, where all monitoring data will be collected online, and decisions will be made based on their analysis. We plan to launch the system starting from January 2029,” Martirosyan noted.
The co-organizers of Mining Armenia Forum 2026 are the Mining Forum Development Foundation and the Armenian Mining and Metallurgy Association. The strategic sponsors of the forum, which is being held for the third time, are the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine and the Lydian Armenia company, and the main sponsors are Ameriabank and Teghout CJSC.
