The Kano State High Court No.1 has begun hearing prosecution evidence in the trial of Maimuna Idris, who is accused of cutting off her boyfriend’s genitals.
At the hearing, held at the Audu Bako Secretariat court complex in Kano, the prosecution counsel, Barrister Safiya Yalwati Yahaya, called the alleged victim, Ashiru Sani, as a witness.
Sani told the court that the defendant gave him a drug identified as Diazepam, which he claimed caused him to lose consciousness before the alleged incident.
After hearing his testimony, the court discharged the witness and adjourned the case until November 19, 2026, for continuation of the trial.
The defendant had earlier pleaded not guilty to the allegation that she cut off Sani’s genitals in a relaxation room.
