Few shows have settled into the autumn schedule quite as comfortably as All Creatures Great and Small, and its future is secure for a while yet.
5 and PBS Masterpiece renewed the Yorkshire-set period drama for both seasons 7 and 8 back in late 2025, giving fans the reassurance that the warm world of Skeldale House is going nowhere soon.

All Creatures Great and Small season 8 release date speculation: When could it air?
Season 8 has been officially commissioned, but neither 5 nor PBS Masterpiece has announced a premiere date.
New seasons typically land on 5 in September and we'd expect that to continue in 2027.
In the meantime, there will be another Christmas special to look forward to before then.

Who could be in the All Creatures Great and Small season 8 cast?
No official season 8 cast list has been confirmed, but we'd expect the show's main ensemble to return:

- Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot
- Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon
- Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall
- Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon
- Thomas Riches as Jimmy Herriot
- Isabella Ward as Rosie Herriot
Other faces who could feature are:

- Patricia Hodge as Mrs Pumphrey (alongside her cherished Pekingese Tricki)

You can also expect numerous other guest stars across the new episodes.
But it's unclear if Gaia Wise will return as Charlotte Beauvoir, while it feels like we've seen the last of Maimie McCoy as Dorothy (more on them in a moment).
What could happen in All Creatures Great and Small season 8?
Plot details for season 8 are being kept under wraps, but the most pressing question is: what does the future hold for Siegfried and Mrs Hall?
In the season 7 finale, the vet realised he was in love with the housekeeper and called off his wedding to Dorothy.
But Siegfried didn't tell Mrs Hall why he had ended things. Will he take the plunge and confess his feelings? And how will she respond if he does?

They were still together when she departed, but are they built to last?
Season 7 also marked a period of transition, with modern veterinary medicine and agricultural machinery beginning to unsettle established ways of life. That is likely to continue in season 8.
