Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones acknowledged his frustration with the team's 2-4 record, but he isn't ready to concede the season. While attending the NFL's owners meeting in New York City, he indicated the team could explore roster improvements ahead of the November 10 trade deadline.
Not one to shy away from a microphone, Jones also spoke about former quarterback Troy Aikman's contract dispute with his on-air partner Joe Buck and media giant/employer ESPN.
In other news, the reason Jones may be so optimistic likely stems from a division that is devoid a clear cut favorite. Washington head coach Dan Quinn is clearly on the hot seat because of his decision making while New York is stating QB J.J. McCarthy, whom they just acquired. Upcoming opponent Philadelphia, just lost a handful of players and is facing calls from the government.
Cowboys Nation is mourning the loss of five-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Cornell Green, who passed away at the age of 86. The two-time All-Pro defensive back was part of the famed 'Doomsday Defense' in Dallas during his 13-year career.
Around the NFL, Lions star TE Sam LaPorta may be the odd man out in Detroit as contract talks haven't gone his way. Packers RB Josh Jacobs returns to action yet still faces discipline from the NFL stemming from an off-field incident. Lastly, Titans head coach Robert Saleh supports DT Jordan Elliott, who he released, after the defender brought a gun into the locker room.
