Bee, the personal AI wearable company acquired by Amazon last year, has introduced its first new hardware since the acquisition.
The company announced the Bee Frontier, which can be worn on the wrist or clipped to clothing, and the Bee Eclipse, a credit-card-sized device that magnetically attaches to the back of a smartphone.
The Frontier costs $74.99, while the Eclipse is priced at $99.99.The Frontier comes in Onyx, Lavender, and Sage. The Bee Eclipse will be available in Silver, Midnight, Honey, and Blush.
AI That Remembers Your Conversations
Like the original Bee, both devices use AI to take notes from everyday conversations and turn them into summaries, insights, and actionable tasks.
For example, Bee can remember a date and time discussed while making plans with friends and create a calendar event. It can also take lecture notes or record details from a conversation with a doctor.
All Bee devices provide conversation summaries and recaps for free and retain 14 days of memory.
An optional Bee Pro subscription costs $11.99 per month and adds unlimited conversation summaries, suggested to-dos, daily memories, a personal chat assistant and conversation templates.
It also adds integrations with Amazon.com, Alexa+ and third-party services.
Audio Is Deleted After Processing
Bee uses a private computing security architecture that does not retain raw conversation audio.
The devices process audio in real time and then delete it. Conversation transcripts are encrypted using keys created and controlled by the user’s device.
According to Amazon, this means even its employees cannot access the transcripts unless the user intentionally shares them.
Users can also delete transcripts and summaries whenever they want.
Alexa Can Work With Bee
Users can optionally connect Bee with Alexa.
Alexa’s Voice ID can recognize when the Bee owner is speaking and allow an Echo device to capture conversations for Bee’s summaries and insights.
Integration with Amazon.com also lets users make purchases, while Alexa can provide Bee summaries, insights and to-dos through voice commands.
Bee additionally works with Gmail, Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook, allowing it to draft emails, schedule meetings and identify action items.
Users can also upload photos or connect Apple HealthKit data so Bee can incorporate additional wellness information into its insights.
Bee Frontier Gets Seven-Day Battery Life
Both devices have a single button for turning them on or off and an indicator light that shows when a conversation is being summarized.
The Bee Frontier offers IP67 water resistance, up to seven days of battery life, USB-C charging and two microphones with advanced noise filtering.
Bee Takes on Plaud at a Lower Price
The Eclipse puts Bee into more direct competition with dedicated AI note-taking devices such as the Plaud Note and Pocket.
The $74.99 Frontier is cheaper than the $159 Plaud Note, $189 Note Pro and $129 Pocket AI device.
Both Bee products work with a redesigned companion mobile app, while the company has also introduced a new desktop app.
The Bee Frontier is available now through Amazon, while the Bee Eclipse will follow soon.
