One of the Alabama Crimson Tide's biggest storylines coming out of Saturday night's loss to Georgia was the status of wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams.
Alabama's leading receiver, Coleman-Williams exited the Georgia game twice as result of an injury, the first of which was at the end of the second quarter. Coleman-Williams ended up returning to the game, but left again later during the second half following a helmet-to-helmet hit, with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer confirming the head injury postgame.
DeBoer also provided an update on Coleman-Williams during his Monday afternoon press conference, as well as a pair of Crimson Tide starters, Racin Delgatty and Terrance Green, both of which also exited the Georgia game due to injury.
“Ryan has got a couple things going on,” DeBoer said. “Worked through an injury with his knee that’s been kind of going on, and so we’ll deal with that. Got the head issue as well. So, we’re gonna address that, even the lower-extremity, there this week, and pretty good chance we wouldn’t have him here this weekend. I think he would be probably week-to-week after that.
“With Racin, just with his lower-leg injury, just continue to evaluate him and kind of see where he’s at in the days ahead. Obviously, he’ll be pretty sore, kind of working through things and limited, for sure early in the week. We'll certainly get some reps with other guys, in particular probably Mal Waldrep, Casey Poe, guys like that, and then Terrance, just keep evaluating him. This is an injury that’s been going on for a couple weeks now. Keeps re-aggravating it, it’s been limiting him in practice. Trying to get him to the game, he, I thought, made a great effort in trying to do that. Just again, re-aggravated it.”
Should the junior end up missing this Saturday's game, Derek Meadows and Noah Rogers would likely be among the players who step into Coleman-Williams' role. Mal Waldrep Jr. would likely do the same at center if Delgatty were to miss time, along with Kedrick Bingley-Jones and Isaia Faga at defensive tackle in place of Green.
Alabama's next game will come this upcoming Saturday afternoon at Tennessee, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
