A Dewsbury drugs gang leader must pay back £260,000 after police uncovered the full extent of his cocaine and heroin network.
Mohammed Tasadiq Khan was jailed in August 2024 after admitting conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin and possession of criminal property in relation to a £100m drugs plot.
Organised crime officers found 10kg of cocaine at an address in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire in a targeted operation in 2023.
Detectives had also found a safety deposit box, 100g of gold bullion bars, jewellery and cash.
Khan’s laptop was also found, which contained spreadsheets detailing the gang’s finances, turnover and earnings projected to be £1.3m.
They also found details of three properties he owned, one in Dubai and two in Pakistan, which were valued at £1.3m, as well as a receipt for the purchase of a dog valued at more than £18,000.
A proceeds of crime hearing at Leeds Crown Court has now heard that Khan benefited by £2.75million.
He was ordered to repay £260,108.04 within three months or face an additional three years in prison.
Khan, 38, had originally been sentenced to 16 years prison, while Razwan Arif, 26, the gang’s ‘accountant’ who was previously jailed for nine years, was told to repay £51,967.64 at a separate hearing in September.
He is said to have benefited by £1,070,481.62 from the drug dealing.
West Yorkshire Police’s Economic Crime Unit had launched confiscation proceedings against Khan under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
Tom Matthews, financial investigation manager at West Yorkshire’s police economic crime unit, said: “A detailed and comprehensive investigation by our specialist financial investigators was able to give a clear overview of the significant amount that Khan had benefitted from this criminal enterprise.
“We were able to establish the assets that he had available and secure a confiscation order against him for that amount.
“If the amount is not paid within the three-month deadline, he faces an additional three years in prison, and the confiscation figure remains payable.
“This latest successful use of the proceeds of crime legislation should illustrate our continued commitment to making sure that criminals not only lose their liberty but are also stripped of their ill-gotten gains.”
