Deputy Director of the Cybercrime Department at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior Colonel Hamad Al-Hamoud reiterated Wednesday Kuwait’s commitment to developing its security system to fight cybercrime and enhance cooperation with Arab countries to tackle cross-border cybercrimes.
Al-Hamoud is also the head of Kuwait’s delegation participating in the 3rd Conference of Officials Responsible for Combatting IT Crimes in Arab Interior Ministries.
He explained to KUNA that the Cybercrime Department has specialized human resources trained in the latest methods of investigation, research, digital evidence collection, criminal monitoring, and analysis, as well as dealing with various types of cybercrime through continuous training.
Al-Hamoud pointed out that the department is working on making use of AI to detect criminal indicators early, as well as setting up channels of communication with commercial companies and relevant government bodies to enhance coordination, exchange information, proactively monitor cybercrime, and analyze signs of fraud while taking early preventative measures.
He also added that Kuwait pays special attention to combating fraud and cyber scams by coordinating with government bodies, financial institutions, and telecom companies to counter any new method of fraud and protect the community.
