The organizations said they would be filing a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organised Crime against Selakovic and his alleged accomplices, for undermining the national film industry.
Milos Skundric, president of the Association of Film Directors of Serbia, told the Danas newspaper that the initial damage amounted to 17 million Euro, with dozens of domestic films not being made because state funding has been withheld for more than two years.
The associations said the Culture Ministry failed to finance local film production despite obligations under the law to support the industry. They alleged that funding was withheld in retaliation against filmmakers who publicly criticized corruption and the state of society.
The seven associations represent directors, actors, producers, cinematographers, documentary filmmakers and screenwriters. They said the failure to hold regular funding competitions has violated several laws and warned that the fallout will affect Serbian cinema for years to come.
