The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi, has denied allegations linking his party to the reported destruction of campaign billboards belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in parts of Ibadan.
The APM Governorship Campaign Council, in a statement issued on Wednesday, accused the APC and its governorship candidate, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli, of spreading what it described as falsehood and unfounded allegations to gain the confidence of voters ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The statement, signed by the council’s Director of Communication and Spokesperson, Yinka Oladoyinbo, said the APM had nothing to do with the alleged destruction of the APC’s campaign materials.
“The APM Governorship Campaign Council in the state says unequivocally that it has nothing to do with whatever happens to the campaign materials of the APC, and should not be dragged into such if it ever happened,” the statement said.
The council warned the APC and its candidate against linking Adekanmbi and the APM to acts of violence involving the party and its members.
It argued that the seven years of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration had been characterised by peaceful coexistence and development.

The campaign council also described Adekanmbi as a man of peace, insisting that he had never been associated with activities that could lead to the destruction of other people’s property.
“We want the APC and its handlers to know that no amount of falsehood and unfounded allegations against Adekanmbi and the APM can stop their being defeated at the polls in 2027,” the statement added.
The APM further accused the APC and its candidate of using allegations and what it described as misinformation to gain public support during the ongoing political activities in the state.
It recalled an earlier dispute in which the APC allegedly blamed APM members for attacks on some of its leaders during party engagements, describing the allegation as part of attempts to attribute the APC’s internal crisis to the opposition party.
The council also accused the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation of making what it called a false claim about an outbreak of diphtheria in Oyo State.
According to the statement, the allegations showed that the APC and its candidate lacked substantive issues and programmes with which to convince voters.
The APM maintained that residents who had experienced what it described as good governance and service delivery under Makinde would support continuity in the state’s leadership.
The campaign council, however, called on security agencies to investigate the alleged destruction of the APC billboards to establish the authenticity of the claim and identify those responsible.
It also urged its members to remain peaceful and continue their campaign activities without fear, expressing confidence in the ability of security agencies to protect lives and property.
