Beck stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night, October 20th, where he performed his recent single “In the Night” while backed by Sacha Baron Cohen. The musician and actor also sat down with Fallon for separate interviews.
Taken from Beck’s latest album, Ride Lonesome, “In the Night” begins with a lush orchestral arrangement that wraps around the musician’s contemplative vocals and the acoustic guitars on the song. Cohen played the cello during the Tonight Show performance, only visible to those who were seeking his presence. Watch a replay below.
During his interview, Beck shared that he was once told Owen Wilson’s Hansel character in Zoolander was partially based on him. Beck also recalled how he “stupidly said no” to the movie, which led to the producers getting David Bowie.
Meanwhile, Cohen spoke about bringing back Ali G and how he once worked in character with Spike Lee and the late Kobe Bryant on a commercial. Ali G: Who Iz I?, which marks his feature directorial debut, premieres in theaters on October 23rd.
Consequence selected Ride Lonesome as one of the best albums released in September. Beck is currently on his North American supporting tour, which runs through the end of October, and will join U2 on their 2027 world tour beginning in late February.
