Kiah Stokes has been relentlessly active on the defensive side of the ball as she racked up blocks and ended up making WNBA history with her latest performance in the Golden State Valkyries’ 67-62 win over the Atlanta Dream in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Saturday afternoon.
Stokes has been playing in the WNBA since 2015, going through her first year with the Valkyries. Despite not being a scorer, she asserted herself as a full-time starter with her remarkable production on defense. This paved the way for Golden State to rise as one of the best teams in the league, reaching the WNBA Finals.
Golden State had its back against the wall with a 2-1 series deficit after losing Game 3. They needed a win in Game 4 to even up the series and force a Game 6. Stokes embraced the challenge as she finished with four points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. Her blocking efforts made history in the record books, according to the WNBA.
