ADEN – The Houthi-run Ministry of Health in Yemen has claimed that 536 civilians, including women and children, have been killed or injured in airstrikes carried out by the Saudi-led coalition since the latest military escalation began on Sept. 3.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry said the reported toll includes both fatalities and injuries resulting from coalition air raids targeting areas under Houthi control across several Yemeni provinces.
The ministry alleged that women and children were among those affected by the strikes, describing the casualties as evidence of the humanitarian impact of the ongoing conflict.
It did not provide a detailed breakdown of the figures or independently verifiable information regarding the locations and circumstances of the reported incidents.
The claims could not be independently verified, and the Saudi-led coalition had not immediately commented on the reported figures.
The latest escalation began in early September amid renewed hostilities and intensified military operations in several parts of Yemen, raising concerns among humanitarian organizations over the impact on civilians and critical infrastructure.
Yemen's conflict, now in its second decade, continues to exact a heavy humanitarian toll, with millions of people dependent on aid and protection assistance as fighting persists across multiple frontlines.
