HERO WHO HELPED RESCUE 13 ABDUCTED GIRLS IN CHALALA HONOURED BY PRESIDENT HICHILEMA
Robby Chitambo, the courageous Zambian who helped authorities rescue 13 young women held captive in Lusaka’s Chalala area in 2022, has been honoured by President Hakainde Hichilema.
Chitambo was awarded the Gallantry Medal during an investiture ceremony held at State House on Saturday, October 24, 2026, as Zambia celebrated its 62nd Independence Anniversary.
He was recognised for his bravery, compassion and selflessness during the shocking abduction case that gripped the nation four years ago.
At the time, Chitambo was an ordinary civilian who played a crucial role in assisting authorities and guiding them to the location where the 13 young women were being held captive.
His actions contributed to the successful rescue of the victims and the subsequent apprehension of the perpetrators.
In recognition of his contribution, Chitambo has since been employed by the Zambia Air Force.
His national honour celebrates an extraordinary act of courage that helped save 13 young women from captivity.
