By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 63 year old blind woman from Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk District, has told police that her adult son threatened to beat her.
The matter came to police attention on Thursday, October 22, when a social worker with the Ministry of Health’s Mental Health Department visited the Gender and Domestic Violence Response and Investigation Unit seeking help.
An officer accompanied the social worker to the woman’s home, where she gave a statement.
The woman said that around 5:00am on Wednesday, October 21, she asked her son to help his father change a tire. She said he became angry, began banging on the kitchen table, threatened to sell her belongings and said he would beat her.
She told police she locked herself in her room, something she says she often does when she is home alone with him.
The woman was advised to visit the Family Court to apply for an Occupation Order.
