(ANSA) - ROMA, 23 OTT - To mark Italian Language Week, the Italian Embassy in Zimbabwe organized the ninth edition of the “Fare Cinema” film festival at the Italian residence. The initiative is part of the “Italian Screen” project, aimed at promoting Italian cinema, which was launched in 2022 through a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs of the Ministry of Culture. The screening of each film in the program was accompanied by a talk from an expert who offered the audience the opportunity to gain insight into their professional experience and the filmmaking process. Among the films included in the program were: “Corro da te,” directed by Riccardo Milani; “Le otto Montagne” by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch; and “2 cuori e 2 capanne,” directed by Massimiliano Bruno. As for the film industry experts who shared their experiences with the audience, speakers included Alessandro Palmerini, a sound recordist and microphone operator, and Luciana Pandolfelli, an editor. A significant contribution to the initiative also came from the collaboration with Dante Global Società Dante Alighieri, which offered two scholarships for online Italian language courses, providing participants with an additional opportunity to learn Italian.
For Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Giacalone, the event was a “valuable and fruitful opportunity to highlight and promote our film industry in Zimbabwe, as well as an effective example of how Italian cultural diplomacy plays a decisive role today in fostering dialogue and building lasting bridges of communication between countries.”
